so tj left yesterday evening for redboy bandcamp (i. e., meredith's parent's lakehouse in melrose), and won't be back until new year's eve..... he and i are so rarely apart that it's kind of a shock to be without him for 3 days straight. after he left, i pressed myself into a whirlwind of house-cleaning, partly to keep from missing him so much and mostly because the house sorely needed it. i started at the north side of the house, skipping the nearly bare bandroom--tj had to take the plethora of amps and drums usually occupying 90% of the floor space with him--and starting with the bathroom.... here's where i proceed to list painstakingly all the things i did as i cleaned until 5:40am, just because i'm bored and it's entirely trivial information to everyone else, but it's important to me dammit!

bathroom: i sanitized the toilet, toilet-brushed the bowl, scrubbed every inch of the sink and the bathtub/shower, washed the mirror and organized our beauty products underneath the sink;

hallway: moved every single cardboard box out of the little washer/dryer nook, swept, hung up one of my favorite wallhangings and rearranged everything with my easel as the centerpiece in order to create a cozy space for doing art in the house, o;

kitchen: organized and cleared out the clutter near the air-conditioning grate, did all the dishes, cleaned out the refrigerator, swept, and organized our tupperware;

living room: swept & shook out the rugs, organized stray cds/dvds/vhs tapes, finally unpacked the last cardboard box left over from moving, moved an end table next to the tv

bedroom: still getting to it! :) but it will be miraculous when i am through!

i'm over at mumpy's keeping her company because she's laid up with 2 bruised ribs and a knee injury that required 28 stitches! this happened last night when she had very nasty fall at the end of her driveway-- she was rushing to the car, with 2 guitar cases in tow, and tripped on the dip where the road's edge meets the sand of the driveway. she actually didn't even know she was hurt that bad until way later, after she had come home from the party she was rushing to in the first place.... not to mention, she stitched it up herself (with proper numbing medication, of course!) now, that's one tough cookie!

anyhoo, right now she's fallen asleep while we were watching one of her favorite cheesey tv dramas, and i decided to take advantage of the solitude to write a little in this lonely little journal.

i think i'm going to take my leave in a minute and go home to a little piggy who's probably even lonelier than i am right now......

anyway, happy new year everyone! if you don't have other plans, come to mine and angel's new year's eve party at her mom's house this sunday, you can check out feline_dreams's most recent post for details....

i haven't posted in this journal since march. holy naked jesus, batman! put some clothes on & come down from that tree in the shape of a t!

anyway, i'm sure no one noticed. you didn't notice, did you? this journal was originally constructed to be tj's journal, in order for him to enjoy the depths of livejournal like i do.... but upon that idea being suggested to him and AFTER i'd created the journal, he divested his true opinion of lj, which would be too obscene to print but basically began with "i think (lj) is a stupid way to produce even more un-needed drama in this world...."
so that having been said, this journal has been completely neglected by me, the only person who cares about it being fed, walked or played with. tj should be aware of the cruelty he's inflicting on an innocent lj, which wants nothing more than someone to stimulate it every now and again. is that too much to ask??!

::sigh:: so with that silly rant out of the way, i'm going to babble a little about my latest art project assignment in my 2-dimensional art class at santa fe: we're to construct a hand-made art book, which has to have a theme and be sequential in nature. there's a variety of different methods for book-binding (japanese stab-binding, star-shaped books, box-books, etc.) i went for the accordian-style book which is made with one long sheet of paper folded similarly to an accordian. the book has images on both sides so it can be flipped over and read a different way. my medium will be collage, and my theme will involve nature becoming overtaken by technology, and then on the flipside, nature will take back over. i'm in desperate need of old national geographics though, because i'm lacking any kind of photo-magazine period! all i have are comics & animal-rights magazines :) so EVERYONE: give me your unwanted NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICS and i will shower upon you everything in life that is good! or maybe i'll just give you some green folding paper with dead presidents on it, or use that stated paper to buy you dinner. let me know, my esteemed colleagues.... ^_+

and 3 more things:

Ten Top Trivia Tips about Poodle_strudle!

If you put a drop of liquor on poodle_strudle, she will go mad and sting herself to death.

It took poodle_strudle 22 years to build the Taj Mahal!

Poodle_strudle is the oldest playable musical instrument in the world.

Poodle_strudle invented the wheel in the fourth millennium BC!

Poodle_strudle does not have toes.

Over 2000 people have now climbed poodle_strudle, with roughly ten percent dying on the way down.

If you blow out all the candles on poodle_strudle with one breath, your wish will come true!

Poodle_strudle can be found on a Cluedo board between the Library and the Conservatory.

There are now more than 4000 satellites orbiting poodle_strudle!

The first domain name ever registered was poodle_strudle.com.

I am interested in - do tell me aboutherhimitthem

it feels so sublime to put my feet up right now-- we just got back from tj's show at the cock-n-bull pub in sarasota; the event was supposed to be a "calliope fest pre-show" but not more than 5 audience-members showed up! so 'twas a 3 hour drive both ways for some free pretzels, 4 cold cans of coke and $25 to make up for the spent gas. but still, y'know, it was some kind of an adventure, we got out of gainesville, and saw some new and interesting things on the drive down..... it's just a straight shot taking I-75 S from here to sarasota, i'm surprised i don't visit the friends living there more often....

oohhhh anyway....anticipation for calliopefest has dimmed somewhat in light of today's "pre-show" letdown... but i think that it will be made up in time, and that i will once again wriggle with delight at the thought of meeting those silver-tongued enchantresses!

there are clanging clicking noises coming from the bandroom. tj is fixing a crack inside the metal piece atop his bass drum, that piece being the main thing holding his high-toms in place.... oh what a world++ he's fixed it now...

whoooo.. i feel a headache coming on. clover and out.

Sometimes you will look into a
mirror and feel the eyes of Despair upon you,
feel her hook catch and snag upon your heart.

Her skin is cold, and clammy; her eyes are the
colour of sky, on the grey, wet days that leach
the world of colour and meaning; her voice is
little more than a whisper, and while she has
no odour, her shadow smells musky and pungent,
lik the skin of a snake.

Despair says little, and is patient.

Which of the Endless (Sandman Graphic Novels) are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

to relieve some stress, click the pig's nose

owie, my back hurts; i've had this knot in the lower right muscle since we got back from our trip 2 days ago. while we were in huntsville, tj's mom took us to one of those oxygen bars for a "water massage". you don't get wet or anything, you just take your shoes off and lay on your stomach down inside this coffin-like thing with water in an above enclosed chamber; they just close the lid on top of you, and the water slooshes back and forth, violently at times, round and round in the chamber. they give you a little control with a button to press that will stop and hold the water on a place that feels good. i was squeezing it every time the water flow passed over my back, let it pound the sore spot till i couldn't take anymore. my back felt excellent after this treatment, but by the next day it was aching again. :(

this morning tj left a little earlier than usual in order to pick up some piggy food, as we are almost out. we are gonna hang out with ned tonight-- he's staying over at his mom's house because apparently him and ed had a fight or something like that. we will have to get the details about all that this evening. it will be good to see him again-- he said he got us a christmas present... which means that we will have to get him something in return.... or maybe i can make something. :-/ i dunno, i just feel bad when someone gives me a gift, and i have nothing material to give back to them in return.

today i'm hoping to get a little more of my energy back. i haven't felt like doing any cleaning lately, and this house really needs it; maybe i'll just start on our room, straighten that up... we have so much goddamn clutter everywhere, there's no room to clean off anything.... i guess we need some more surface space, some more shelves... we'll figure something out i hope...

i'm watching er right now; i think in a minute i'll pack myself a little bowl and toast myself a bagel.

everyone should go out and watch this film; it's wonderful, one of my favorites

They erected makeshift crosses, laid yellow roses in honor of Abbott's Texas roots and burned candles in his honor, but mostly they shared stories, asked each other why anyone would do such a thing and, perhaps most importantly, they blasted Pantera's cathartic tunes and shouted their lungs out.

Early in the day, during a steady downpour, fans trickled by and propped tributes to Abbott on a large rock at the entrance to the club's parking lot. A six-pack of Heineken shared space with a rain-spattered copy of Pantera's Far Beyond Driven CD, a handful of guitar picks and large Budweiser can that bore the taped-on message "From Joshua Ramey, Diamond Daryl Boggs and Danny 'Party Boy' Jenkins — Never stop rocking and kicking f---ing ass. RIP, brother." In the distance, the venue's marquee still showed Damageplan's name.

Dozens of satellite news trucks packed a lot across the street from the venue, though the day's only news was the confirmation of the names of the dead. The questions surrounding why 25-year-old Nathan Gale killed Abbott and three others remained unanswered (see "Dimebag Darrell, Four Others Killed In Ohio Concert Shooting").

One of the first groups to arrive to pay their respects included longtime fan Terry Kyees, 40. "We were at the Ministry concert backstage with [singer] Al [Jourgensen] when someone came back to give him the news," said Kyees, who was sporting a weathered Pantera T-shirt and a pentagram necklace with matching ring. "He was pretty shook up. This is just a major loss to rock and roll. Dimebag was a shot in the vein to metal. You turn Cowboys From Hell on and turn that up in your car and go off bangin' your head ... it's just freedom ... life. I mean, it's always the good guitarists that die young."

(Click for photos of Dimebag Darrell in concert through the years.)

Standing with Kyees were Chris Lerchliter and her son, 15-year-old Brandon, wearing a Marilyn Manson T-shirt, his eyeliner beginning to run. "This summer Brandon bodysurfed all the way to the front row and high-fived Dimebag," she said proudly. "It was a real turn-on."

By 7 p.m., more than 100 fans had gathered in the parking lot, holding candles, drinking beers, smoking cigarettes and laying objects on the growing tribute rock: pictures of Abbott, candles, beer cans, packs of smokes, Pantera T-shirts, dozens more bouquets of yellow flowers and a Christmas ornament in the shape of a guitar with several pictures of Abbott above a homemade sign that read, "Dimebag, thank you for many years of entertainment, influence, inspiration and pure musical genius. May your legacy live forever."

After paying her respects at the rock, a teary-eyed April Webb, 22, slowly walked away from the growing throng, which — with the occasional whiff of weed mixed with cigarette smoke and beer — smelled a lot like a rock show. "He was a true entrepreneur of that electric guitar, man. He could do things with it that nobody else could think of," said Webb, whose brief brush with Abbott occurred when she was almost hit by Dimebag's golf cart backstage at Ozzfest in 2000. "Their music was just a release. That's all."

An impromptu jam session broke out when one fan played some Pantera songs ("This Love," "Cemetery Gates") on his acoustic guitar, joined on the choruses by a number of those in the crowd. The mellow sounds of the acoustic were soon replaced by thumping kick drums and growling vocals as two mourners cranked Pantera tunes on their car stereos.

As the crowd swelled to several hundred fans, a male streaker sprinted across the road shouting, "F--- Nathan Gale!" over and over as police chased him in circles, finally tackling and handcuffing him.

Ryan Melchiorre, 21, whose band, Flat Line, is headlining the Alrosa in January, was working security at the club Wednesday night. "I got here five minutes before the shooting and was helping with the barricades, and Dimebag was rocking out and then all of a sudden I watched the first blast go off and people rushed the stage because they thought it was part of the show," said Melchiorre, who helped usher in the police officer who shot Gale. Though part of him wanted to try to help Abbott, Melchiorre said he instinctively started ushering fans out as soon as he saw the blood on the stage.

"He just played from his soul and his heart, he loved his fans," said Melchiorre, who had come to the club hoping to meet Dimebag and Vinnie Paul, Dimebag's brother and bandmate. "This has given heavy music a bad name. Hip-hop has taken a bad rap for a while because of the Tupac and Biggie situation, and we'll probably get hit hard for the Dimebag situation."

Matt Shipp, 22, will also never forget what he saw Wednesday night. "I witnessed the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life," he said. "I turned around and Dime looked at me, he was holding up the horns. I turned around, heard 'pop, pop, pop,' turned around again and looked at the stage and no one was there — just a cloud of smoke."

In addition to hundreds of young fans, the vigil brought out a number of families, several with small children, and at least one who had a close tie to the shocking event.

Drummer Todd Henson, 16, opened Wednesday night's show with his band, 12 Gauge. "He was so approachable. He talked to you like he'd known you for years," Henson said of Abbott, whom he'd met earlier in the year at a local radio-sponsored concert (see " 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott: A Larger-Than-Life Guitarist And Human Being"). Henson was three rows back in the pit when the shooting occurred, and as soon as he saw Gale wave his gun in the air, he ran for the exit.

Terry Henson, who has played the Alrosa more than 100 times with his bands over the years, came to see his son play earlier in the night and was relieved when he got the call at 10:15 p.m. and learned that Todd was OK. "I'm concerned now [about violence at rock shows], but I'm hoping it's an isolated incident. One of the saddest things for us as a family is that Todd finally got to play for his idol [Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul] and he did the most awesome gig I've ever heard his band do, and to have such a high as that and an hour later to have such a downer ... that's why I'm here tonight to have closure for him."

The crowd had dwindled to less than 100 after 10 p.m., and as 10:18 — the 24-hour mark — approached, fans grew quiet. By midnight, a single fan remained, silently bobbing his head to the Pantera album blaring from his stereo. Behind him, where the memorial had stood just hours ago, was a smoldering pile of ashes on top of the rock, now spray-painted with the word "Dime." A smaller remembrance with a Pantera banner, an American flag and a few flowers remained, and beyond it the Alrosa's marquee was now eerily empty.

--Gil Haufman

-----------------it's all lonely here since tj began his new job. he is out of the house by 8:30 am every morning and back by 9 pm that night; except for sunday which he, thankfully, has off. *sigh* i'm really proud of him for sacrificing so much of his time and energy into some kind of job, i just hope it pays off and that he's able to stay sane in being there for so goddamn long....day in and day out!!!

this morning i dropped him off and drove the car home. but i bit the bullet and braved my way over to the feed store to get pig food for boris... driving wasn't so bad-- except for a bit of confusion when trying to back out of SOS. i sometimes, for no reason, get mixed-up on which way to turn the wheel in backing out.. i know it's a rudimentary concept for daily drivers but i'm going to need a lot more time in that steel speedbox; i think some guy that tj works with was watching me, but who gives a shit. he's probably going to make some comment to tj about it, so i've probably not heard the last of how inexperienced i appear behind the wheel.... everyone has to learn some time. dammit.

well, at least i always use my turn signal >:( and i don't speed... because speeding tickets suck.

man, i'm so bored. i've watched everything that's on the dvr, cleaned up twice and organized my books.. what else is there to do?? glub glub glub... oh yeah that's right--

tj's new cell phone came today! he's excited about it-- i mean, we used to talk about having individual phones but decided we were together too much, so there wouldn't be any point.. but now that he's a company man, working 12 shifts every weekday, a cell phone would be extremely useful. oh poopy-- how i miss him.

gurgle.... 6 hours till i have to be at the seagle building and listen to phones ringing for three hours.
*siiiighh* time for a cigarette! oh yeah and some quizzes... or something...

Hazel-rah

Which Watership Down Rabbit are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

<img src="http://images.quizilla.com/B/Boniter/1037596503_terflyhorn.gif" border="0" alt="You are musical, poetic, and a great listener.
